MAJOR sewerage works in Boscombe have been completed ahead of schedule, according to Wessex Water.

The firm is carrying out repairs to the ‘coastal interceptor sewer’ beneath Percy Road.

A temporary overland pipe, put in place to ensure customers’ sewerage services were maintained during the work, is now in the process of being removed. The pipe runs from an access point in Boscombe Chine Gardens via Boscombe Overcliff to Fisherman’s Walk, near Montague Road.

Engineers are also carrying out repairs to Percy Road, which remains closed due to ground subsidence and damage to the road surface.

Project manager Joe Edmunds said: “Our engineers have been working extended hours, including weekends, to complete the complex work in the sewer tunnel as quickly as possible.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by this emergency repair work and would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support.”
