POLICE are hunting for a thug who bit off part of another man's cheek in Poole last week.

The victim, a 29-year-old from the town, was leaving an address in Arne Avenue at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, July 5 when he was spotted by an acquaintance who was sat on a bus parked at a stop in the road.

The force of the bite resulted in a chunk of his cheek being ripped off. Doctors were forced to operate on his face.

The offender then made further threats toward the victim before making off.

Detective Constable Jessica Pearcey, of Bournemouth CID, said: "I believe the incident was witnessed by members of the public, particularly those on the bus or at the bus stop at the time."

She called for anyone with information to contact Dorset Police.
