A MAN has been banned from parts of Christchurch for five years under a criminal behaviour order (CBO).

Stephen Gadd, who is of no fixed abode, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The defendant, 52, was convicted of being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a PC.

As part of his sentence, magistrates decided to impose a CBO. Gadd must not be intoxicated in any public place and behave in an anti-social manner; use threatening obscene, intimidating or abusive words or behaviour towards any person; act or incite any others to act in a manner likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress; remain or return to any premises from which he has been asked to leave; and enter any disabled toilet within Dorset.

He must also not expose himself in any public place within view of members of the public, enter the borough of Christchurch or urinate or defecate in any public place.

Gadd had initially pleaded not guilty to both offences, which happened on May 29 2016 in Lymington Road, Highcliffe and at Bournemouth police station's custody suite.

However, he later changed his plea.

He was conditionally discharged for 12 months and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £20 and costs of £85.
