DORSET Police could roll out a new scheme to protect cyclists over the next few months.
Officers have been working with West Midlands Police in a bid to understand the force's 'close pass' cycling initiative.
And they say the approach will be adopted across Dorset, with campaigns expected in the next few months.
The scheme involves an officer wearing plain clothes and cycling along a main route with a camera fitted to the front and rear of the bicycle.

The officer then radios information of vehicles not overtaking correctly to officers further down the road, who pull the driver into a check point to provide 'roadside education'.
It is a campaign being used by Hampshire Police, who launched the scheme last week.
And they have already posted some examples of near misses seen under the 'Give Space, Be Safe' initiative.
Nineteen drivers were caught in less than two hours during an operation last week.
