A MOTHER and son have avoided prison for perverting the course of justice after a man died at a popular holiday park.
Samantha Mitchell and Jamie Mitchell, both of Apple Close in Poole, pleaded guilty to the charges after they lied to police officers following Kenneth Dickie's death about who had caused him to fall to the ground.
Mr Dickie, 64 - Ms Mitchell's partner at the time - suffered a head injury on May 7 last year at Rockley Park and died in hospital a week later.
Jamie Mitchell was found not guilty of manslaughter when Winchester jurors cleared him last month.
Samantha Mitchell, 58, received nine months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
Jamie Mitchell, 35, received 10 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months. He was also sentenced to four weeks imprisonment, also suspended for 18 months, for common assault - an earlier attack on Mr Dickie that same evening.
Both were ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
