CCTV footage of burglars brazenly targeting a Bournemouth barbershop on Christmas Day have been posted online by the salon’s owner.

One of the hapless thieves even stares straight into the camera, asking her partner in crime “what is this?”

Now, the footage has been viewed 15,000 times, with all leads being passed to Dorset Police.

Luc Ashbee discovered his Lansdowne business, The Barbers, had been targeted as he drove past on Boxing Day.

In the footage posted on social media, the two suspects - a man and a woman - can be seen rifling through the Bournemouth shop. Their voices are clearly audible.

Luc, aged 32, believes between £15,000 and £20,000 of property was stolen.

He told the Daily Echo: “We are having downstairs refurbished at the moment and all of the builders’ tools have been taken. We sell a lot of vape products, which have also been stolen.”

Luc has already received a number of possible leads as to the couple’s whereabouts, information which is all being passed onto Dorset Police as part of their ongoing investigation.

Despite the raid, Luc has been moved by the public reaction. “It is quite a warming feeling that the community has come together like this to try and help,” he said. “It has been a fantastic response, complete strangers messaging me and wishing me luck.”

The barbers, a former sandwich shop, opened in October 2015.

Luc explained: “My boiler had just packed up at home and I was heading to the office to get some heaters. On the way I drove past the barbers. On the desk there is usually a mac which has our booking system on it. I saw it wasn’t there, so I called my business partner, he didn’t answer, so I went inside to have a look.

“I decided to put the footage online so we have the best chance of catching these people.”

Forensics officers visited the store yesterday to gather evidence.
