A MAN has admitted using his mobile phone to take pictures of a 14-year-old girl as she changed in a cubicle at Poole's Splashdown water park.

Chuck Wood, aged 21, pleaded guilty at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on Friday after being arrested following the incident at the Tower Park attraction in December.

Wood, of Lower Innox, Frome, Somerset, pleaded guilty to the charge of voyeurism - that he recorded another person doing a private act with the intention of obtaining sexual gratification from it.

The court heard that Wood, who has learning difficulties, was detained by police on December 28, following the incident in the changing rooms at Splashdown.

Wood used a mobile phone to film the 14-year-old, who was naked at the time, as she changed. The shocked teenager, who was at the park with her father, raised the alarm after spotting a gold mobile poking under the cubicle partition.

The victim's father stormed into the neighbouring cubicle and discovered Wood with the mobile phone. In the ensuing commotion, the court heard, Wood passed the phone to one of his friends. No footage was ever recovered.

However, later during police interview Wood told officers: "I was doing something I shouldn't have been doing.

"I was taking a photo of a girl, I am sorry."

He also told police: "I cannot understand why I'm doing it."

Defence solicitor Jeffery Bannister told the court Wood, of previous good character, had no idea of the girls age until after the incident.

Mr Bannister added: "He is very remorseful. He is suffering from depression and may have been suffering from depression for some time."

Wood will be sentenced at Yeovil Magistrates Court, pending probation reports, later this year.
