A 48-year-old man has admitted making and distributing indecent pictures of children.

Anthony Newman of Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to nine charges of making indecent images in January this year.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard the charges involved a total of 106 still images, some in the most serious category.

Newman cried in the dock as he also admitted distributing indecent pictures on January 10, as well as one count of intentionally arranging an act which would involve sexual activity with a child in Kent between January 12 and February 9.

Newman was on the board of trustees of the Bourne Spring Trust between 2009 and 2011.

A spokeswoman for the trust, which runs the Bourne Spring Centre in St Mary's Road, Springbourne, said she was shocked and stressed that trustees are involved "at strategic level only."

She added: "We have always prided ourselves for providing facilities for local people that created a safe environment to be in. Mr Newman was not involved in the day to day activities of the centre."

He also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

He was remanded on conditional bail and ordered to return to court for sentencing on September 4.
