ARMED police were called to reports of a group of men being seen with a gun in Broadstone last night.
A call was made to Dorset Police at 7.07pm on Sunday evening following the alleged sighting on Roman Road, which was believed to have involved a group of three or four men.
Residents spoke of seeing armed police, a large number of police cars and heard the police helicopter overheard in the area while they carried out a hunt for people matching the description given by the caller.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police confirmed that firearms officers, police dog handlers and the NPAS helicopter attended in response to the report and carried out a thorough search of Roman Road and other nearby roads.
However they did not find any people who matched the description nor any discarded weapons.
