FOR fans of aerobatics, the Twisters are back in Bournemouth once more this year.
They will be blending heart-stopping manoeuvres with explosive pyrotechnics.

The display is designed to get the best from the aircraft and the moves are smooth and flowing, as the planes fly along the crowd line, with smoke trails showing the path of the manoeuvres.
The Silence Twister uses a honeycomb core. While more expensive, it makes the structure lightweight and very tough.
Like an F1 car, it has a crash resistant safety cell.
The Twister can carry 4 hours of AVGAS aviation fuel in the wings. The wings are identical, with a symmetrical wing section. Both wings are made from the same mould before the ailerons and flaps are cut out and fitted, so one wing is flipped over.
The Twister can be de-rigged into a car trailer in less than 10 mins.
Each display uses 40 litres of smoke oil, twice as much as fuel as the engine uses.
