NEW Forest police have released a CCTV picture of a youth following criminal damage at the Co-op in the town.
The incident took place on Sunday, October 7 at 1.50am when three youths went into the shop at Ampress Services, selecting a number of items to buy.
Staff refused to sell them a sandwich because it was out of date and after the trio had paid for their replacement items and left staff found several items spoiled or damaged.
These included soft drinks, shampoo and salt thrown on the floor and a raw chicken placed among nectarines.
The total damage was £38.56.
Police want to identify a white male in his twenties who is slim with short blond hair and was wearing a pink shirt.
Lymington PC Kieron Maddock said: “This is a rare, pointless and stupid incident.
“There were numerous people in the store who may have witnessed it, including the offender’s friends. They should come forward to us, unless they think this behaviour is acceptable,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Maddock on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
