You can get up close and personal with a host of objects at the Natural Science Society, including Egyptian mummies and 50 million year old (yes you read that right) fossils.

Homer's Odyssey is told through paper puppets at the Pier Theatre in the acclaimed Paper Theatre's Odyssey.

And next week, the highlights include Pepperminta, which is screened at the Pier Theatre on Wednesday at 7.30pm. The winner of the Miami Film Festival is a colourful feast of happiness and simplicity by director Pipilotti Rist.

Wednesday also sees the start of Forever Frankenstein at the Shelley Manor and other locations until October 28. The show is a celebration of the classic novel by Mary Shelley with a series of special events.

Thursday at Shelley Manor features the exhibition This This Monster This Things which showcases the artwork of conceptual artist Giorgio Sadotti.
