DETECTIVES in Poole are appealing for witnesses following two distraction burglaries, within two hours, which are being linked.

At 12.45 pm on Tuesday (Oct 9) a young man called at a property in Symes Road, Hamworthy, and stated he was wanting to repair the toilet. He pushed the elderly victim and went into the bedroom, taking cash from a handbag.

About two hours later a man in his early 20s went to an address in Phyldon Close, Parkstone, and demanded money as a deposit for repairing the toilet. No work was carried out but he left with money handed to him by the elderly householder.

The hoaxer, who spoke with a soft Scottish accent, is white, about 21 years old, with a slim build and short brown hair. He is clean shaven and was wearing a dark navy boilet suit and white glove on his right hand.

Anyone who can help police should phone 101, quoting incident numbers 9:159 or 9:245, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
