Wilts and Dorset buses now fully wi-fi equipped

PASSENGERS on Wilts and Dorset M1 and M2 bus services now have access to free wi-fi as they travel.

Wilts & Dorset have spent £150,000 adding Wi-Fi equipment to the 36-strong fleet, which runs between Poole, Bournemouth Castlepoint and Southbourne

“We are confident that the introduction of Wi-Fi to the fleet of 36 buses will prove popular,” said Nikki Honer, Commercial Manager at more. “Whilst motorists have a frustrating journey to work, our customers will be able to choose to either work or surf the net for pleasure on the free Wi-Fi!”

Earlier this year the company introduced an app for buying tickets. It has also re-launched its website and now provides up to the minute travel information and advice through Facebook and Twitter.

Does that mean they will always be on time. And not leave people stranded at bus stops.

They've had this on National Express for ages.
.
The problem is they're on a mobile network so when your phone loses 3G so does the busses WiFi.
.
Not much point if you already have a smartphone you can use as a hotspot.

Oh, at last, I can travel on the bus. I NEVER travel without my iPad and my movements have been severely restricted. Now I am FREE.
Thank you Wilts and Dorset.
Could you now look into installing TV and opening onboard cocktail bars. A lift to upper deck would also be appreciated.

Nothing in this world comes for 'free'. You can bet that Kilts & Corsets fares would be lower if £4,100 hadn't been spent on each bus.

Not sure how people are turning this into something to moan about.

A little light humour is occasionally needed to brighten an otherwise miserable day. Would you not agree?

wonder if it will be like the much vaunted air-conditioning on the "more"
buses that's never used because it costs too much to run ? Still should make the bus journey even more noisy for the rest of the passengers who can manage to pass the time on a bus without needing electronic entainment to stop them getting bored.

Great! Now if I need to waste an hour getting to Poole on the M1 I can surf the time away. I can drive to Portsmouth in the time it takes a passenger M1 to get to Westbourne - legally I might add.
When I've finished using my fancy smartphone, iPod or whatever on the bus I can then look forward to getting mugged by the person sat next to me when I get off. A smell/nutter detector would be more useful.
