A REPORT by the Local Government Boundary Commission is recommending Purbeck should be covered by one extra councillor.
This means Purbeck District Council is likely to increase from 24 to 25 members, once the new proposal are implemented by Parliament in the next few months.
The new electoral arrangements should come into force at the district elections in 2015.
Commission chairman Max Caller said: “We’re extremely grateful to the people of Purbeck who took the time and effort to send us their views.
“The commission considered every piece of evidence gathered from local people and organisations.”
Other changes proposed, following the six-week public consultation, include including the Organford area in the Lytchett Minster and Upton West ward.
“We are also proposing that East Holme Parish should be part of Wool ward and not Creech Barrow,” said Mr Caller. “As it shares community interests and identities with parishes and communities to its west.”
