Eddie Howe has this morning responded to speculation linking him with the vacant manager's position at Goldsands Stadium.

Burnley boss Howe was installed as one of the bookmakers’ favourites for the post after Paul Groves was relieved of his duties yesterday.

Speaking to the media, Howe said: "This is a Bournemouth story and not really one I should be commenting on.

"I am proud to be Burnley manager, we have just started the job. We feel there is a long way to go."

Championship outfit Burnley last night issued a hands-off warning after Howe had been linked with a possible return to Goldsands Stadium.

Howe led Cherries to promotion at the end of his first full season in charge in 2010, despite operating under severe financial constraints, including a transfer embargo.

Clarets chief executive Lee Hoos said: “Burnley Football Club would not welcome any approach for Eddie Howe from any club.

“We are in the process of building for the future with Eddie and his staff, and speculation is an unwanted distraction.”

The Daily Echo has today learned that MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is also on Cherries' managerial wish-list.
