BOURNEMOUTH'S controversial Imax building was finally demolished …but only in a light show.
The town’s Arts by the Sea Festival was launched with a series of displays and installations in the town centre, including drumming and dance at The Triangle and jazz music in the square.
The attractions in the Lower Gardens included music and film shows at the bandstand, the Boscombe Vintage Market next to the aviary and giant curtains of tinsel that young and old were running through.
In the evening a large crowd gathered next to the pier and joined in the countdown before the image of the Imax being blown up was projected onto the existing building ahead of its real demolition by the council.
