PARKING rules at meters across Bournemouth are still not being enforced while an inquiry is carried out by the council .
A recent appeal against a penalty charge notice revealed possible errors in Traffic Regulation Orders.
Until the issue has been examined and resolved, enforcement has been suspended.
But the meters themselves are still in operation and collecting money, usually around £15,000 a week.
There are 98 meters across the borough. Bournemouth council has not placed any notices about the current situation at any of the sites where they operate.
A spokesman for Bournemouth council said no firm date has been set for the completion of inquiries.
And Mike Holmes, service director for planning and transport services, has warned that enforcement could be reinstated at any time.
He said: “We are currently assessing the legal documentation for all areas where street pay and display meters are located.”
