A NINE car crash on the A338 Spur Road this morning started with a collision involving a police car, officers have confirmed.
A Dorset Police spokesman said two marked police cars stopped a motorist in a layby near the Matchams Road Bridge before two other cars left the carriageway and crashed into a stationary police car and the vehicle which had been stopped.
Drivers and passengers were injured and three ambulances were called before the road was cleared by 9.50am.
There was a closure at Ashley Heath and traffic was held up in both directions.
