ROCKY, rootsy, fiddlesome band State of Undress have penned a song called ‘I’m Gorgeous (Gok Wan Told Me So)’ and what’s more the How to Look Good Naked TV presenter loves it.

With a new dating programme Baggage that started last week on Channel 4, Gok’s website features the song by the Dorset–based band.

Don’t know if this helps, but here’s a quote from Gok Wan about the song:

“As soon as I heard ‘I’m Gorgeous (Gok Wan Told Me So)’, I absolutely loved it.

“I mean it’s not every day you get to inspire a song. It’s really positive and so much fun, with a really uplifting message about having the confidence to be yourself.

“Just what all the gorgeous Gokettes out there need to hear.”

Charlie Rose lead singer with State of Undress and co-writer of I’m Gorgeous (Gok Wan Told Me So) told 24SEVEN of the band’s delight at Gok’s response: “It’s great that Gok is so enthusiastic about the song and in the couple of days since it’s been on his website, we’ve already had lots of interest. It’s really quirky with an almost jazzy feel and although the lyrics are humorous and fun, it does have a serious message. We’ve only been playing it live for the last couple of weeks – in fact its first public outing was on Bank Holiday Monday – but it’s been going down a storm wherever we’ve played it.”

Alan Rose, guitarist and co-writer continued: ‘It’s a bit of an unusual song for a fiddlesome folk rock band but we all love performing it.

“Charlie and I had the lyrics and the melody pretty much worked out but it’s the rest of the band who have really brought it to life with a drum shuffle sound; a swing bass and some rather jaunty fiddle.”

Charlie added: “There’s so much media pressure on people to conform to a set idea of who and what is gorgeous. As a mother of two sons aged 20 and 17, and size 10 being a dim and distant memory, this song and indeed Gok’s philosophy is a celebration of everyone no matter what their age or size.”
