AS he begins his first weekend behind bars today, Adam Gutteridge will have plenty of time to reflect on how he abused his position of trust as a teacher at Highcliffe School .
And to consider the devastating impact his actions have had on his victims. At least one of them is battling depression, did not continue with her education and finds it hard to keep relationships, as her grandmother explains today.
Gutteridge was a sexual predator masquerading as a man of standing and trustworthiness.
He cynically used their innocence and vulnerability to his advantage and probably thought he had got away with it. Our picture of him outside court yesterday shows he can still find something to laugh about.
Fortunately those who suffered at his hands had the courage to play their part in bringing him to justice.
Gutteridge is where he belongs though undoubtedly not for long enough.
