A DAD and daughter are celebrating their victory over a clamper in Poole.

Fred and Samantha Wheatland were in a stand-off with Patrol Plus on Avenel Way in Baiter.

The clamper was demanding £200 to release 26-year-old Samantha’s Fiat Punto.

Fred, owner of Vicsam Limited on the Nuffield Industrial Estate, said: “We explained that Samantha’s friend gave her a visitor’s pass.

“He said there was a sign saying you will be clamped – but there were no such signs at all.”

Samantha, 26, studying social work at Southampton University, said: “He showed me a picture of my car with a sign next to it.

“But there were no signs when I parked the car and no signs when I found the car clamped.”

The police arrived and Samantha’s friends began unscrewing the clamp.

Fred said: “The police telephoned the managing agents, who said this wheel clamper has no jurisdiction in this car park anymore.”

Samantha’s friends removed the clamp and Fred took it home.

Teresa Webb, from managing agents Urban Owners, said the former agents had a contract with Red Route Management, which is no longer in existence.

She said: “I understand the document was transferred to Patrol Plus but we have seen no document in the name of the firm.

“We have sent a legal letter to Patrol Plus through a solicitor to say they have no right to be there.”

A spokesman for Patrol Plus said: “We can confirm a valid contract is in existence and that Urban Owners have a copy.

“We are unaware of any injunction or application preventing us from carrying out our duties.

“The police are investigating concerns brought by Patrol Plus and we are not in a position to comment further.

“Any damage to our property will be taken seriously by the police.”

A police spokesman confirmed they were called at 8.30pm on Sunday, September 16, but said it was a civil matter and no offences were disclosed.
