DETAILED plans for the first phase of a multi-million pound business park at Bournemouth Airport have been submitted to planners.

Manchester Airports Group was given outline permission last year for the £60million business park, unveiling the plans to fellow business park companies at a special event in the summer.

The park is expected to generate and attract hundreds of jobs.

The newly submitted reserved matters application concentrates on the first phase of the scheme, and sets out plans for a potential new facility for Bournemouth-based company, Aim Aviation.

According to the application, the business, which has premises both in Boscombe and at Bournemouth Airport , is looking to consolidate their local sites.

The new development would provide them with modern production, storage and office facilities, allowing them to maintain and possibly increase business.

As part of the new development at Aviation Park West, many of the old dilapidated hangers will be removed from the land, vastly improving the appearance of the business park.

A MAG spokesperson, said: “Following on from the interest generated with the launch of our ten-year master plan for Aviation Business Park earlier this year, we are currently talking to a number of businesses interested in new-build opportunities. One of the first phases of development includes a new headquarters and production facility, and we are currently in discussions with AIM Aviation about this potential development.

“In order to progress this opportunity, a detailed planning application has been submitted to the local authority.”

The 35 acre scheme as a whole is likely to create more than 1,000 new jobs and take up to 15 years to implement and would be driven by market demand.

The jobs would come from the new businesses, expanding businesses and construction jobs. Part of a £1.1million contribution to Dorset County Council to improve the access to the site, would also be given, should the proposal be given the go-ahead.
