HOT on the heels of its Olympic headline-making, beach volleyball came to Boscombe at the weekend.
The finals of the Volleyball England Beach Tour hit the sand with top-class players battling it out to become national champions.
The tour has already visited other seaside resorts and a free grandstand was laid on for spectators, as well as the chance for people to try a game themselves.
Matt Lloyd, coastal recreation officer at Bournemouth Seafront Operations, said: “It gives a great opportunity for local residents and visitors to welcome elite, world-class volleyball players in action right on their doorstep and we hope the excitement of an adrenaline-fuelled final will entice more people to have a go for themselves here on the beach.”
Lisa Wainwright, chief executive of Volleyball England, added: “Volleyball is great for boosting fitness levels, developing skills and tactics and generally having fun being active.”
