THE lucky owner of a previously unclaimed £1million-winning lottery ticket has now claimed the bumper prize, it has been confirmed.

National Lottery chiefs say the winner, who bought the ticket for the Euro Millions Raffle draw in the North Dorset and Purbeck area on July 27 – the night of the historic Olympic Games opening ceremony – wants to remain anonymous.

That night’s draw guaranteed to create 100 millionaires overnight. Although only 96 ticket-holders have come forward so far.

On the latest Dorset winner, a National Lottery spokesman said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and can begin enjoying their win.

“As well as becoming an overnight millionaire, the ticket-holder is also part of a world record that the National Lottery is very proud to have broken.”

The highest number of lottery millionaires created in a single night before the Olympic Games draw was 25.

“However, there are still four prizes from the draw waiting to be claimed,” said the spokesman.

“So we would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets so they don’t miss out on life-changing prizes.”
