TWO more good causes are a combined £500 better off thanks to the Daily Echo-backed Carbon Stoppers appeal.

Breastfeeding charity La Leche League and the Seabrook Seals Open Water Swimming Group are the latest to benefit from the joint Daily Echo/Yellow Buses initiative.

La Leche League helps mothers to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education.

It also promotes a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and the mother.

Volunteer Sue Stockwell said the £300 Carbon Stoppers donation would help towards the running costs of holding weekly meetings at Hamworthy Library as well as help pay for training materials.

“This is a very generous donation and we’re very grateful,” she said.

Bournemouth-based Seabrook Seals Open Water Swimming Group is organising a swim across the English Channel by a six-strong female team in September 2013.

Proceeds from the swim will go to the RNLI and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Group member Emma Christison said: “The £200 cheque is fantastic. Thank you Carbon Stoppers and thank you Daily Echo and Yellow Buses .” Each week Yellow Buses holds a Thank You Thursday when every trip taken on the day contributes to a separately administered Community Chest.

The bus company has pledged a minimum donation of £50 per week to the Carbon Stoppers fund with Daily Echo readers invited to nominate worthy recipients.

So far £9,480 has been presented to 40 good causes.

The donation to La Leche League included the proceeds of a special Carbon Stoppers day on Mothering Sunday in March.
