BORED youngsters are being urged to “Get Hooked”on fishing this summer.

Moors Valley Country Park is offering a series of fishing activities throughout the school holidays to cater for novices, families and those with more experience.

Get Hooked runs from Monday to Wednesday until August 20 and offers a two-hour taster session, while Cast Away runs on August 15 and 22 and parent and child groups can try Get the Family Hooked on August 21.

There are plenty of other activities to try, including Go Ride Skills Sessions on August 21, Adventure Cycling for eight to 12 year olds on Saturdays until the end of September and Go Ride Racing, a cycling race open to all seven to 16-year-olds on August 29.

Youngsters aged eight to 10 can enjoy a day in the woods learning bushcraft skills on August 13 while 11 to 13-year-olds can get involved in an overnight camping bushcraft course from August 15 to 16.

There’s an Arty Insect Workshop on August 28 where children can create a sculpture from willow and tissue paper and under sixes can take part in minibeast hunting, pond dipping and woodland walks during the month.

An annual family bat and moth walk takes place on August 16, as well as a spider walk on August 23 and a story walk on August 20.
