A Poole man whose car was vandalised after suffering months of anti-social behaviour is calling on the council’s housing association to take action.

“How long do we have to put up with this?” asked Ian Taylor, whose family has suffered intimidation, threats and bad behaviour going back over three years.

Having his car smashed up at 11pm on Friday, with three youths seen to run away, was the final straw.

“It’s just unbelievable,” he said.

“This is just a residential area of Poole.” But he said he was expecting some form of retribution after making complaints.

His Renault Megane, parked outside his home in Old Farm Road, Oakdale had its drivers side front and back windows and the rear hatch smashed, white paint poured over the roof and all four tyres stabbed.

He lives in a Poole Housing Partnership House with a communal front garden and around half the homes are privately rented. Ian, 44, a company manager, said his complaints to the council and PHP had resulted in little action.

“PHP are supposed to be responsible landlords and this is going on,” he said. A catalogue of abuse, rubbish piled up outside his home, shouting and swearing, fires and parties has left him determined to fight back.

“This is what happens when PHP and Poole Council know about a problem family or families and react only under pressure when incidents occur. They have had sporadic reports of ongoing issues from us for years now and this is what it has come to.”

Mr Taylor said the police were not interested as it was not “a crime against a person” but PHP has asked Dorset Police ’s Safer Neighbourhood Team to include the road in patrols.

Borough of Poole councillor Peter Adams said: “We do have a department that deals with antisocial behaviour and I will be speaking to them to find out what action we can take.

“We take allegations of anti-social behaviour seriously.” PHP has suggested making the open plan gardens private but that will need consultation and take time.

In an email to Mr Taylor in May, PHP said: “Please be assured we take ASB very seriously and will be investigating and taking any appropriate action to support you and your family and tackle any unacceptable behaviour.”
