Roumelia Lane murder hunt: Did you see two hatchbacks?

Bournemouth Echo: INVESTIGATION: Police tape sealing off part of Roumelia Lane in Boscombe through to Sea Road after last week’s murder INVESTIGATION: Police tape sealing off part of Roumelia Lane in Boscombe through to Sea Road after last week’s murder

TWO cars could provide vital evidence in the hunt for killers involved in a professional ‘gangland execution’ in Boscombe .

Detectives investigating the early morning murder of Reece James Menzies at a flat on the corner of Sea Road and Roumelia Lane are seeking information about vehicles seen in the area between 2 am and 3 am on Wednesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Pam Trevillion said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen these vehicles or has any information about them.”

The first is a small silver or grey hatchback which was parked outside Whistons baby and toy shop in Sea Road and the second is a dark coloured hatchback seen in Roumelia Lane.

Detectives are also appealing for any friends or acquaintances of Reece, from Wembley, North London, who was also known as Stylie, to contact them as soon as possible.

The 21-year-old is believed to have been shot in the face by members of a rival gang.

The killing was described as “a spill-over from the drugs turf war in the capital” by Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood.

The MP has written to Dorset’s Chief Constable Martin Baker to demand answers on how the force is dealing with gang-related violence in Bournemouth which, in part, involves Somalis.

A 22-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder has been released on police bail. DCI Trevillion added: “We urge anyone who knew Reece in any way or visited the address where he was staying to come forward.

“We understand that it is worrying for people to take the step to speak to police but I would like to take the opportunity to reassure members of the public that any information will be treated confidentially.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 25:046 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

yes we should all play a part in helping the community but at what cost? when it comes to gangs very few people will speak out because they know something could happen to them or there family so im pretty sure alot of people would not make it a top priority to go to the police with information some peope value the lives of them and there loved ones

It's about time that minimal acceptable standards were reached for video surveillance cameras before they were allowed to be installed - like being able to recognise things!

I despair of the number of times I have seen videos showing unrecognisable "splodges" out of focus, in the distant fog.

It's funny how they can now find officers to do drugs raids, when they couldn't before this murder? Strange how Drugs & dealers isn't force priority???
What it needs is an Insp who is passionate about the area rather than his next promotion?
What It needs is officer like they have in london who aren't afraid to get in the dealers, stop & search constant disruption on daily basis is what it needs, and come out of the pink cuddle police play ground a lot of these officer exist in.
Under Freedom of Information, in a 3mth period in Boscombe only 25 stop searches were carrried out"Just 25" hardly an effort to disrupt?
