SHHHHH ... Bournemouth is set to enjoy an outdoor Silent Disco tonight. Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth’s national dance house is opening up its terraces to club-goers in an alfresco event that hopes to revive this summer’s festival spirit.

Clubbers will dance the night away on the terraces that overlook the seafront and Lower Gardens from 10.30pm till 2am. Silent Discos have been sweeping across the UK’s festival-scene over last few years. They get rid of the traditional speaker systems used in nightclubs or festivals as each guest is given a set of top-quality wireless headphones to listen to the music. Two top festival DJs will play simultaneously on two separate channels and guests can choose the music that they want to hear. If they don’t like a track from the first DJ, they can just flick the switch and listen to the second DJ. The novelty of taking off the headphones and seeing hundreds of people bopping away in silence is entertainment in itself.

SilentArena, the masterminds behind the Silent Discos at the Leeds & Reading Festivals, Sonisphere, Rewind and Download Festivals are turning Pavilion Dance’s terraces into an outdoor nightclub, normally only experienced in places like Ibiza and Miami.

Dancers will be able to tweet and message their song requests to the two battling DJs via various TV screens around the arena. If you’ve not been to a Silent Disco before, it’s definitely worth checking out.
