ENERGETIC pupils at a Bournemouth primary school have been rewarded for cycling to school.
The number arriving by bike at St Mark’s in Talbot Village has tripled since the school got involved with sustainable transport charity Sustrans.
The charity’s Bike It officer Jason Falconer awarded the school with a Silver School Mark Award for its dedication to transforming the journey to school.
“The school has been excellent in adopting a healthy active travel culture to school” said Mr Falconer.
The award was presented by councillor Susan Phillips, who also opened a new shelter for 40 bikes during a ceremony at the school.
She said: “The activities that you have all taken part in show the children’s enthusiasm at its very best.
“We all like riding bikes and having fun.”
