THE Daily Echo’s coverage of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations last month has received the Royal seal of approval.

After receiving copies of our special Jubilee supplements, along with our congratulations to mark 60 years of her reign, Her Majesty sent a letter of thanks from Buckingham Palace to Daily Echo employees.

In her letter to Toby Granville, Group Editor of the Bournemouth Daily Echo and Dorset Echo, Queen Elizabeth II said: “I send my grateful thanks to all employees of the Bournemouth Daily Echo for their kind message of congratulations, sent on the occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary of my Accession to the Throne.

“In return, please accept my good wishes for a most memorable and enjoyable Diamond Jubilee year.”

After receiving the Royal correspondence, signed Elizabeth R, Mr Granville said: “It’s thanks to the people of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch and their great community spirit that we have been able to produce such good coverage of the Jubilee celebrations, particularly in our special supplements.”

He added: “We are obviously delighted that our coverage of the Jubilee celebrations by our hard-working team of reporters and photographers has been well received by Her Majesty.”

The Daily Echo captured celebrations during scores of street parties and other events held throughout Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch to mark the memorable Royal milestone.
