A MAN hanged himself while on the phone to his estranged wife, an inquest has heard.

The body of father-of-three Carl Edwards, 42, was discovered along a single track lane leading to Turlin Moor Recreation Ground off Blandford Road in Poole on May 28.

The inquest at Stafford Road Coroner’s Court in Bournemouth heard that Mr Edwards and his wife began having marital problems in the summer of 2011 and these were further exacerbated when his business ran into trouble and his son was diagnosed with a mild form of Asperger’s.

Mr Edwards moved in with his parents in their Poole home in February this year.

Mrs Heida Edwards said in a statement that her husband, who was working as a programme manager at Hobbycraft, called her on the evening of May 27 to say he was going to kill himself and that it would be the last time she’d hear from him.

She called the police and Mr Edwards’ body was discovered the following day.

Coroner Sherriff Payne concluded that Mr Edwards died as a result of taking his own life.
