Seven illegal workers from Bangladesh were found in Border Agency raids on three Blandford restaurants during May.

Officers went to Simla, West Street, to carry out immigration checks.

Three men tried to flee from the premises but were caught. Once checks were made, five men from Bangladesh were found to be working illegally.

A 21-year-old was removed to his home country, while the men aged 25, 28 and 38 remain in detention pending removal.

A 40-year-old must report regularly to the UK Border Agency while arrangements are made for his removal.

Officers also went to Bay Leaf on West Street and Spice India on East Street.

At Bay Leaf, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested. He remains in detention pending his removal.

At Spice India, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested. He was later released while arrangements are made to remove him.

Phil Reay, of the UK Border Agency, said: “Illegal working has a serious impact, taking jobs from those who are legally entitled to work and undercutting businesses.”
