HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of Christchurch as a veterans’ parade marked the anniversary of the end of the Falklands War.
Organised by the South Atlantic Medal Association 82, it saw veterans, joined by serving Marines, the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and cadets, march through the streets of the town on Saturday from the Royal British Legion in Bargates to the Priory, where a service was held.
Bill McAlester, chairman of the Christchurch SAMA branch and himself a Falklands veteran, said: “It’s a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the end of the war and remembering our friends who didn’t come home."
