POLICE have still not confirmed the identity of the human remains found in an area of woodland in Lytchett Matravers this week, despite charging three people with Geoffrey Reed’s murder.
A spokesman for the force said their investigation is still ongoing and no further information would be released.
It is unclear whether a post-mortem examination has yet been carried out on the remains and Dorset Police said an inquest would not be opened until next week.
Yesterday the cordon surrounding a small area of woodland and nearby farmhouse in Lytchett Matravers was lifted following four days of investigations.
Mr Reed’s ground floor flat in Boscombe remained sealed off by police yesterday. It is understood he lived there with three other men and a woman.
As reported in yesterday’s Echo, Geoffrey Reed was a convicted sex attacker who had served prison sentences for his crimes.
He attacked a 16-year-old girl in his car after offering her a lift and driving to a secluded car park. He was later prosecuted twice for failing to comply with the Sex Offenders’ Register.
The Daily Echo has also received information that Mr Reed was last released from prison on November 11 last year after being recalled for an offence.
