A POPULAR boating and watersports festival in Poole on Saturday has been cancelled due to poor weather.

More than 30 companies and 17 boats were set to take part in Poole Afloat, which offers people the chance to try out paddleboarding, canoeing and sailing.

But adverse weather forecasts have forced organisers British Marine Wessex to pull the plug.

A spokesman said: “Poole Afloat has been running for 15 years.

“It is a successful event run for the general public to have a fun day out and to promote boating and the local marine industry.”

He added: “The safety of those getting on the water and exhibiting on the land is of utmost importance and a primary factor to our decision. We hope that everyone will understand.”
