BOURNEMOUTH Council is soon to begin a public consultation on licensing Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
The consultation is due to start at the end of June and follows residents concerns at the spread of HMOs and problems associated with them.
The news came at the full council meeting held on Tuesday after Winton resident Jack Killingback requested an update.
Cllr Dave Smith, cabinet member for community said there are 6,000 HMOs but at present only those of more than three storeys and with more than five people needed to be licensed.
He also said he was aware of the concerns of residents in places like Charminster and Winton and the council was researching the issue in response.
The work will include examining data and complaints, speaking to other local authorities, and a public consultation “from the end of June until mid September”, he said.
