DETECTIVES are trawling through CCTV footage as part of their investigation into the arson attack on a GP surgery in Poole.

The fire broke out at the Neighbourhood Centre practice in Culliford Crescent, Canford Heath, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police believe the fire was started by a wheelie bin being set alight next to the building. It caused major damage to the roof and smoke and water damage inside.

The practice is part of the Canford Heath Group Practice which has a main surgery in Mitchell Road. Yesterday practice manager Hazel Clarke reassured patients that they had retrieved all paper records from the surgery and none remain on site.

She said 80 per cent of the paper files are in perfect condition and they are doing their best to retain as much information as they can from the remainder. More recent records are stored electronically at Mitchell Road.

Mrs Clarke added: “All computer equipment, drugs and confidential documents have also been removed from the building.

“We are absorbing all clinical work at our main surgery in Mitchell Road and ask our patients to contact us on 0844 499 5232 with any queries, prescription and appointments requests.”
