STUDENTS and staff at a Bournemouth special school welcomed Lord Julian Fellowes into their midst as they celebrated the opening of their new post-16 building.
The award-winning actor, playwright and screenwriter cut the ribbon at Linwood School’s new “Link” building, where older students learn valuable life skills.
The Tory peer, who is best known for creating ITV’s Downton Abbey, said he was “honoured” to be there.
“The truth of the matter is the most important skills that any of us learn are how to deal with other people, how to live your life and how to run along with others,” he said.
“That seems to be at the core of every successful life – whether you’re a politician, movie star whatever. It seems to me to be the most important element of any education so I very much wish you luck.”
Di Kerr, the post-16 co-ordinator at the Alma Road school, said they jumped at the opportunity to buy the former youth club building and expand the School’s facilities.
