A CAR driver who failed to stop after being in collision with a teenager skateboarding along a Poole road is being sought by police.

Traffic officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident in Oakdale on Sunday.

It took place around 5.30pm in Bailey Crescent and the 15-year-old from Poole suffered severe swelling to a wrist and a suspected broken bone in his thumb.

PC Julie Payne of Dorset Police traffic unit said: “The victim was skateboarding along the nearside carriageway of Bailey Crescent when a car approached him from behind.

“As the car attempted to overtake him, the nearside door mirror struck the teenager on his right hand side.

“This did not cause any injury to him but the force caused the victim to lose his balance and fall off his skateboard, resulting in the injuries.

“The vehicle involved has been described as a silver Nissan Micra with two occupants. The driver slowed down but did not stop.”
