CHILDREN at a Bournemouth pre-school were tickled pink to meet CBeebies star Chris Jarvis.

The popular children’s television presenter visited the Jack in the Box pre-school in Ensbury Park to support a week-long fundraising effort by the pre-school, which saw all the kids and their families take part.

It was all in the name of raising money for the Pink Pokesdown Breakthrough breast cancer appeal, which saw the pre-school turn pink with a series of pink-themed events.

Manager Sue Johnson said: “We just wanted to do as many pink things as possible to raise lots of money, as it’s a cause close to our hearts, and we all know someone directly or indirectly who has been affected by it.

“The kids made Percy Pig cupcakes, paid subs and got to drink pink milkshakes and completed a pink obstacle course.

“They also each donated a handprint to go on a canvas to make a unique piece of artwork for a sealed bid, and some of the parents are artisan bakers, who made really special cupcakes for a raffle.”

Sue said that the children did different things for the whole week and they were all actively involved in raising the £866.61, which has been raised so far.

“I think that the children wanted to raise as much money as possible to help other people get better.

“We were also very blessed to have Chris Jarvis come down to meet the children and look at all the things that they have done to raise money.

“He was absolutely fantastic, and I think he got a bit mobbed by all the kids because they all wanted to speak to him, but he sang a song and looked at a book with them all.

“I think a well done is really deserved for everyone because they all put their hands in their pockets and have been fantastic.”
