A CATCHY tune penned by a holiday park entertainment manager has reached number one in the children’s download chart.

Hit song “The Sammy Wiggle” was officially released on iTunes on Monday with all proceeds donated to children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Performed by Sammy Seahorse – the Hoburne Holiday Park mascot – the tune was written by entertainment manager Mitchell Craig.

Hoburne’s head of marketing Paul Harper said: “This is remarkable. We all hoped the single would do well and help raise money for a wonderful cause but to be number one in a matter of hours is fantastic. Sammy and his songs and dances are so loved by children and their parents and grandparents alike.

“Sammy has released a couple of albums and DVDs now, which sell incredibly well on the Hoburne parks, but this is the first time he has gone for chart stardom.”

Hoburne Holiday Parks has pledged to raise £100,000 for CLIC Sargent as part of its centenary celebrations this year.

A giant Sammy Wiggle is taking place at Hoburne Park in Christchurch, where the Hoburne story began.

The event is set to take place on Monday, May 7.
