THE family and friends of a tragic motorcyclist have paid tribute to him by urging fellow motorists to take extra care on the roads.

Friends of Nick Barry, who was killed while riding his motorcycle along Ashley Road, Parkstone, last Sunday evening rode their motorcycles in convoy down Ashley Road on Saturday alongside with two people carrying a sign saying, “Can You See Us Now, RIP Nick Barry”.

The parade drew attention from fellow motorists and pedestrians who waved and beeped their horns in support of the group.

Coming to a standstill at the spot where scores of floral tributes and other items have been left to remember Nick, 44, the group, which included Nick’s partner, Melanie McGrail, remembered their friend and loved one.

“He was just always happy,” Melanie said.

“All he ever did was help people.

“He saved people’s lives he helped recovering drug users and alcoholics and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

“Nick was the nicest man I have ever met. Whatever he had he gave to someone else.”

Although they had only been together for six months, Melanie described those as “the best six months of my life”.

She has been supported by Nick’s biker friends, who have rallied round to help organise the safety message as well as keeping the floral tributes in good shape.

In a message to all drivers, Melanie added: “We just ask everyone – please look out for motorcyclists.

“So many drivers get distracted – they’re on their phone, doing their make-up, smoking or whatever.

“Please just look.”

Friends from the Spartans MCC, Dorset said they were planning a ride-out in honour of Nick.

Arrangements are underway for Nick’s funeral, which could be held on St George’s day, April 23.

Driver is not blamed for crash

Melanie read a text message Nick’s son Sean Barry had asked to be included.

It said: “In regard to the driver of the car, I do not blame her and it is not her fault. We all wish her love. God Bless.”

The Poole woman, who was travelling with her 12-year-old daughter was said to have suffered extreme shock as a result of the collision.

They had been travelling in a Peugeot 306 and were understood to be turning right into a parking bay when the incident took place.
