THE developers of the controversial housing plan for Boscombe Centre Community Arts have released a “tackling myths” leaflet.
Bournemouth 2026 is a Community Interest Company behind the plan to build 11 affordable new homes on the BCCA site in Haviland Road.
The Friends of the BCCA oppose the plan and the group ‘Occupy Boscombe’ is currently camped out inside to stop any work commencing.
Bournemouth 2026 has applied for planning permission. The site is currently owned by Bournemouth Council.
The leaflet says ‘Gladstone Mews’ is just one part of a housing strategy that will also include buying new sites around the very deprived Churchill Gardens area.
Other points include: local people will get first refusal on the houses, that the BCCA was under-used when it closed in 2007 and never really operated as a community centre, and that the listed part of the building will be retained.
