Cllr Judy Butt, cabinet member for public engagement and participation at the Borough of Poole, said: “It’s so exciting for all our residents to be able to enjoy the Olympic Flame coming to Poole.

“London 2012 promises to be spectacular and for Poole to be part of it is fantastic. Now communities can start to plan in earnest for the torch’s arrival.

“I’d encourage everyone to come out on July 13 and welcome our amazing, inspirational torchbearers to their communities.”

Cllr John Beesley, leader of Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “The route announcement is a very proud moment for the town.

“It reminds us we are just a few short months away from the Olympic Torch making an historic visit to our town.

“We hope as many people as possible will come out and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience by lining the streets, soaking up the atmosphere and holding their own celebrations. Let’s give the torch and the people carrying it a very special Bourne-mouth reception.”

Plans are being put in place for a welcoming event at the Barrack Road recreation ground and further details will be announced in the next few weeks.

Cllr Ray Nottage, leader of Christchurch Borough Council, said: “This is a tremendous honour for the Borough and we hope that a large number of people will come along to the route to welcome the torch and the bearers.”
