HE’S known as the artist to the A-list for his portraits of the rich and famous.

But Paul Stillwell is becoming something of an international celebrity himself.

For the self-taught artist who lives in Branksome Park in Poole, has just starred in a national German TV programme which shows him meeting Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig.

“It was filmed by a company called RTL which is the German equivalent of ITV,” says Paul.

“It was good fun and it was interesting to experience what it’s like to be in the media spotlight – I guess it was my five minutes of fame!”

Paul has painted some of the world’s most famous faces.

His client list reads like a guide to who’s who in Hello! Magazine – Kate Winslet, Joan Collins, Rolf Harris, Tom Cruise, Roger Moore and even the Dalai Lama.

But Paul is only happy with his work once it’s been autographed by the star. He sometimes waits for hours at film premieres and book signings to get celebrities to sign his paintings.

“I tend to keep an eye to see what films and books are coming out. I would love to paint one of the Hollywood greats like Sophia Loren or Raquel Welch one day.”

Paul taught himself to paint six years ago but his hobby is now a burgeoning career.

His fans include Cheryl Cole who is reported to have been so impressed that she took his painting to hang in her new home.

Paul’s latest brush with fame was with Hollywood heart throb Johnny Depp who signed a portrait Paul had painted at a London film premiere earlier this year.

“Johnny is one of my favourite celebrities. He spends ages signing for all his fans. He loved his painting. He said it was beautiful!

“Most of the stars are quite down to earth and very friendly – not what you would always expect.

“Jennifer Lopez who has a reputation for being a bit of a diva was lovely.”
