CHILDREN at Pamphill First School got busy chopping, stirring, and dipping to make a special ‘thank you’ meal for people who help in the community.
The 72 pupils invited firefighters, police officers and paramedics to enjoy their menu of chicken curry, chilli con carne, salad and fruit salad for their Let’s Get Cooking challenge.
Other guests included sport coaches and taxi drivers who bring some of the youngsters to school.
After lunch the little chefs had a tour of a fire engine and ambulance.
School secretary Joan Bibb said: “We wanted to say thank you to the people who help us.
“You call them out and say thank you, but we wanted them to know they’re really part of the community. It was also good for children of this age to see inside an ambulance and talk to policemen, so they know not to be scared.”
They then sang a thank you song. The cookery day was part of the BIG Cookathon competition, to win funds for the school.
