TWO men have robbed a pensioner at gunpoint in Poole.

The attackers grabbed the 69-year-old man, threatened him with a ball-bearing gun and stole his wallet in the terrifying attack in Langdon Road, Parkstone.

Detectives are releasing descriptions of the robbers, who fled towards Ashley Road, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Residents in the area say they are shocked by the crime, which happened near the Alexandra Road junction at around 11.20am on Tuesday.

Linda Dunford, 50, pictured below, of Alexandra Road, lives right by the spot.

Mrs Dunford said: “It’s quite frightening.

“My other half works nights so I’m worried for my safety now. Anything could happen.

“I don’t understand why anyone would do this to an old bloke. I guess people are brought up differently today.”

She and her husband took their dog Gizmo out for a walk at around the time the elderly man was attacked, but did not see or hear anything.

“This area’s ok but at night you hear teenagers drinking and going down the park. You think – here we go, there’s going to be trouble. They’re swearing and carrying on.”

The attackers, who had a blue ball-bearing gun, are described as of Asian appearance and medium build. Both were wearing long dark grey hooded tops.

The first robber is possibly Asian, aged 28 – 30 years old and around six feet two inches tall. He had stubble on his face.

The second is between 26 to 28 years old and around five feet ten inches tall.

Student nurse Lucy Rubick, 24, was at home in Alexandra Road with her four-year-old daughter at the time.

She said: “I didn’t hear anything. This is awful. It’s really quite frightening.

“I’ve never found this road too bad. In the winter I would walk home in the dark and I’m really shocked this has happened.”

Another young mum of two, who asked not to be named, said: This is horrendous. It’s really, really horrid and worries you to death.

“I woke up in August last year to find two men in my house, and you get garden jumpers around here too.

“Threatening an old man with a gun is sickening – even with a dog you’re not safe.”

Detective Constable Damian May, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said the victim is “clearly distressed” but unhurt.

“Incidents such as this are very unusual in this area and I am hopeful that anyone who noticed anything out-of-the-ordinary on Tuesday night will contact me urgently.”
