BOURNEMOUTH photographer Andy Scaysbrook has put together his second exhibition for an ovarian cancer charity in memory of his mother Margaret.

The fundraising Holding on to Hope show in London features people holding an image of someone close to them who has been affected by the disease.

These include celebrities James May, Nigel Havers, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Carol Vorderman and Jenny Agutter – as well as Andy’s 11-year-old son Louis.

Andy, who runs a photographic business in Bournemouth, explained: “I know how devastating ovarian cancer can be to families from first-hand experience.

“It has had a tremendous impact on my dad, my brother and Louis, who was born shortly after mum passed away.

“I talk to Louis about my mum every day and so he feels as if he knows her, but it’s a shame he never got to meet my best friend.

“By including men in the exhibition hopefully it will make everyone more comfortable about talking about the symptoms of ovarian cancer and considering it as a possibility earlier on, when it can still be successfully treated.”

The exhibition at the Menier Gallery, Southwark Street, SE1 runs until tomorrow.

For those who cannot make it, postcards and a book of the Holding on to Hope photography are available to buy online at ovacome.org.uk.
